About the Author
Andy Adams was born in Thorncreek Township, Whitley County, Indiana, the son of Andrew Adams, of Irish descent, and Elizabeth Elliott, of Scottish descent. As a child, he helped the cows and horses on the family farm.
In the early 1880s, he went to Texas, where he stayed for 10 years, spending most of his time driving cattle on the western trail. In 1890, he tried to work as a businessman, but the business failed, so he tried to dig for gold in Colorado and Nevada. In 1894 he moved to Colorado Springs, where he lived until his death.
