Charles The Second

Description of the Book
The author of another book I was reading for research supported this biography of the Stuart Restoration King Charles II. He said it was the best biography of the king he had found. That convinced me.
Mr. Hutton was a lecturer in history at the University of Bristol at the time of publication (1989). It is ten years since the publication of a wonderful biography of Charles II by Lady Antonia Fraser. Hutton’s book is very different from Fraser’s though it gives him high credit for his work. The difference is that Hutton relies heavily on primary sources to tell a multi-character story.
