About the book
As we said earlier, Pythia gets suddenly interrupted by a bloodstained refugee who has come running to the temple (her temple), to get cleansed. It is Orestes, son of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, who killed his mother (mother of the refugee) to avenge the murder of Agamemnon.
Pythia is actually terrified by this sight, the sight of this refugee that has come to her temple to try and cleanse. Apollo orders Orestes to go to Athens where he will meet the so called goddess of wisdom, where he will try his case.
In the mean-time, he offers his half brother, Hermes to go on this route with Orestes, to actually guide him to Athens. The dialogue ends with the Furies vowing to pursue Orestes, even as Apollo has promised to protect him.
About the Author
Aeschylus was born between 525BC – 455BC and was an ancient greek tragedian. He was well known for his plays and his actual understanding of the whole ancient Greece. Some of the most popular plays by him are: Agamemnon, Choephori, Eumenides.
