Herland Pdf Book Summary

Three unlikely friends – Vandyck Jennings (narrator, also known as Van), Terry Nicholson and Jeff Margrave – join a scientific expedition to one of the few remaining areas of the world, although Van is abandoned, but the exact area is not clear, he says. story.

On their travels, the friends often hear rumors of a strange land, hidden high in the mountains, inhabited only by women. Intrigued, the men investigate the rumors and actually find evidence of an advanced, remote mountain culture, cut off from the rest of the world.

Doubting the landlady’s existence, the men are excited by the opportunity to explore an unknown land and decide to return alone to find her. The three are driven by a sincere desire for knowledge, a love of adventure, and, though Van is ashamed to admit it, fantasies fueled by stories he hears about a land full of women without men.

The friends board the expedition back to the hidden platform and begin exploring the area with Terry’s plane. They saw signs of an advanced civilization from the sky and decided to land.

As the men explored the hidden land, they noticed the obvious cultivation of the forests and the great skill with which the roads had been built. Terry takes these signs of agricultural skill and technology as evidence that there must have been humans around him.
