His Last Bow Book Summary
“His Last Bow PDF” is a short story by Arthur Conan Doyle and part of an anthology with the short stories His Last Bow: Some Reminiscences of Sherlock Holmes (1977).
This is the latest work in Conan Doyle’s classic mysterious series about legendary detective Sherlock Holmes. The collection was well received by fans and critical reviewers. There is a statue of Sherlock Holmes in Picardy Place, Edinburgh, Scotland, near where Conan Doyle was born.
Sherlock Holmes has inspired many novels and television series. Unique in Sherlock Holmes’ story, “His Last Compliment” is a short spy story that is the opposite of a detective mystery.
It is also called the third person, unlike the first. No one is sure why. However, it is said that the story may have been designed to raise public morale during World War I, due to the portrayal of British and German spies.
The story begins with two German spies, von Bork and Baron von Herling, who talk about the British government and the information they gathered. The British are said to be cheating because they are softer and obedient, when in fact it is too difficult to reconcile with them. The British were very good at stealing traps for diplomats and spies they did not know about.
Von Bork spent four years collecting and reporting in England and was going to return to Germany with his knowledge. It was the eve of World War I and he believed that his remarks would help Germany to win. Von Herling tells Von Bork that she can expect a heroic welcome back to Berlin because she exceeds her expectations. The military secrets he discovered were destined to destroy Britain.

Von Herling wonders why he hasn’t left Berlin yet, and Von Bork explains that he’s waiting for the last important information, without which he won’t be satisfied. The informant brought signals to the British Sea so that the Germans could anticipate British strategy and capture their ships. Von Herling, impressed by Von Bork’s commitment, wished him well.
He left his own company. Von Herling looked surprised when he left Britain unprepared for war. But Von Bork knew that was not the case; The British are very good at it. He knew that the Germans could not accept anything without reason, and he had to make sure that they could leave the country without filling out all his papers.
The Altamont informant seemed to have a copy of the signals. He worries how uncertain the book is in Von Bork’s files, but Von Bork explains that there is code; he himself told her what it was – August 1918. Altamont asked him what he would do with his staff when he returned to Germany. Von Bork didn’t think so, and so did Altamont.
Altamont revealed that one of Von Bork’s favorite informants had been arrested; nothing was said about what he would accept in the British. For his safety, Altamont wanted Von Bork to expel him immediately. Von Bork told him to go to Rotterdam, where he would get safely through New York. Now it’s time to look at Altamont’s documents.
Before Von Bork could open them, Altamont knocked him down with chloroform. Turns out it’s Sherlock Holmes in disguise. Holmes followed Von Bork’s preachers and made sure they caught them as soon as they proved to be spies. He had his passport code in von Bork’s briefcase again so he could bring all this evidence to the British police.
