Description of the Book
Notes from the Underground is a novel written by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoyevsky about a man who is offended by society and tries to explain his withdrawal through a series of notes and fragments from his everyday life.
The novel follows the Underground Man, an unnamed main character who has contradictory and negative views about humanity, the laws of nature, and himself. The book is divided into two parts – the first is set in 1860 when a man in the underground is forty years old, and it is a kind of philosophy and diarist in life.
The second part begins about fifteen years ago and describes some of the underground man’s relationships with different people in his life, including his colleagues, prostitutes, and workers.
