Tender is the Night

Description of the Book
By force of will, Peter the Great single-handedly renewed Russia’s resistance to medicine. He defeated enemies from within his own country, including his sister Sophia, who was vying for the throne by anti-modernist forces.
He defeated Charles XII of Sweden, his rival for control of the Baltic, but was defeated. He considered his son Alexis unfit for the throne and killed him instead of handing his kingdom over to Liberty.

About the Author
Abbott graduated from Bowdoin College in 1820. At some point in his life, he is said to have added a second “t” to his surname, to avoid being “Jacob Abbot the 3rd” (although (one the book says he wasn’t).actually started signing his name with two t’s until many years later).
Abbott studied at Andover Theological Seminary in 1821, 1822, and 1824. He taught at Portland Academy and then at Amherst College the following year.
