The first story we will talk about here is the story of the Adam A.S PBUH! Allah the Almighty said to the angels that HE will create a man out of clay and fashion him and then when HE breaths into him his soul, they shall all prostrate to Adam.
So ALLAH shaped Adam into a human being, but he remained a figure of clay for forty years. The angels went past him and the Iblees went past him. Because ALLAH S.W.T has ordered them to prostrate once the soul is breathed into Adam they were all scared by what they saw.
Especially Iblees (Shaytaan). He used to pass by the figure of Adam, buffeting it, which would make a sound like pottery. And ALLAH told us: “He created man (Adam) from sounding clay like the clay of pottery.”

ALLAH S.W.T Breathed a soul into Adam and when it reached his head Adam sneezed. Then the Angels said say: “All praise belongs to Allah“. Adam repeated: “All praise belongs to Allah“. ALLAH SAID to him: “Your LORD has granted you mercy”.
When the spirit reached his eyes, Adam looked at the fruits of Paradise. When it reached his abdomen Adam felt an appetite for food. He jumped hurriedly before the spirit could reach his legs, so that he could eat from the fruits of Paradise. Allah, therefore, said: “Man is created of haste.” (Chapter 21:37 Quran).
Then every single Angel that Allah has ever created have fallen down into prostration to Adam, except Iblees. Iblees did not want to fall down into prostration. And Iblees was the one who used to pass the Adam when it was just a clay and used to say: ‘You have been created for a great purpose’.
About The Author
Al-Imam Ibn Kathir was a highly educated Arabian scholar, historian and exegete during the Mamluk era in Syria. His family trace it’s lineage all the way back to the tribe of Quraysh. He was born in a village on the outsides of the city of Busra in Mijdal in the east of Damascus Syria.
After he completed his studies, he has obtained the first official appointment in 1341, when he joined an inquisitorial commission that was formed to determine certain questions of heresy. You can read a lot more about this great man here: Ibn Kathir.
