The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Pdf Book Summary

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is a Gothic story by American author Washington Irving, which contains 34 essays and short stories called The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon, Ghent. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, written when Irving lived abroad in Birmingham, England, was first published in 1819.

Together with Irving’s play Rip Van Winkle, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow was one of the first, for example in American fiction, which she destroyed. popularity, particularly during Halloween due to a character known as the Headless Horseman, who was probably a Hessian soldier who was beheaded in battle by a cannonball.

In 1949, he made his second Walt Disney film as one of the two parts of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Pod.

The story takes place in 1790 in the countryside around the Dutch settlement of Tarry Town (historic Tarrytown, New York), in a remote gorge known as Sleepy Hollow.

Sleepy Hollow is known for its ghosts and terrible atmosphere, which permeates the imagination of its inhabitants and visitors. Some residents say the city was inhabited in the early days of the Dutch settlement, while others claim that the mysterious atmosphere was caused by an ancient Indian chief, “a magician of his tribe. .Before the earth was discovered by Master Hendrik Hudson.

“The people of the city seem to be exposed to a variety of supernatural and mysterious events. They are exposed to visions such as visions and are constantly visited by strange views, music and sounds” in the air. “Sleepy Hollow residents are attracted by superstitions “because of mysterious events and terrifying atmosphere.

Hollow’s most famous spirit and” commander in chief of the entire air force “is the Headless Horseman. It was probably the restless spirit of a Hessian soldier whose head was shot by a stray cannon during the “unnamed war” of the revolution and who “entered the battle scene that night. He found his head. ”

“Legend” tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a slender, energetic and extremely superstitious teacher from Connecticut. During his stay in Sleepy Hollow, Crane was able to make it “useful and comfortable” for the families in which he lived.

From time to time, he helped with light farming, straw production, repairing fences, caring for many livestock, and cutting wood. In addition to her more dominant role as a teacher, Ichabod Crane also helps various mothers in the city by helping to care for their young children, creating a “soft and happy” environment.

Crane is also popular with women in the city because of her education and talent for “bringing the entire local gossip budget,” making her a welcome figure among women. As a firm believer in witchcraft and the like, Crane has an incomparable “wonder of wonders,” only heightened by his stay in Sleepy Hollow’s “spell-bound area.” One of the sources of “terrible joy” for Crane was to visit the old Dutch women and listen to their “great stories of ghosts and elves,” ghost places and stories of the Headless Horseman or “Hessian Hessian” as they sometimes call him.

“Throughout the story Ichabod Crane competes with Abraham “Brom Bones” Van Brunt, a troubled city and local hero, for 18-year-old Katrina Van Tassel, daughter and only child of a wealthy couple, farmer Baltus Van Tassel Van Tassel’s excess wealth, and Brom, unable to force Ichabod to settle his physical accounts, plays a series of jokes on a superstitious teacher. The tension between the three lasted and soon culminated.

On a quiet autumn night, the ambitious Kraan arrives at the Van Tassels House for a harvest. She dances, joins the party and listens to scary stories told by Brom and the locals, but her real purpose is to introduce Katrina to the guests. However, his intentions were not good because he did not secure Katrina’s hand.
